The Midget at Watkins Glen
Inspired by a post from a new acquaintance, I decided to share some information on the transplant of a '05 Duratec 2.0L DOHC engine into a '73 MG Midget. The project actually started about a year ago when my son, daughter and I decided not to sell the Midget, which I had retired after a) having restored it to show condition in '93, b) hacked it up to make a vintage racer in '99, c) drove the $^#& out of it for 5 years, including some great tracks like Watkins Glen, VIR, Road Atlanta, Sebring, etc., and d) retired it when we moved off to South America for a couple of years.
We came back, and I eventually got around to dealing with it after my storage space went away. The plan was to sell it, but my kids wouldn't hear of it. As long as they remember, they were riding around in it, and helping me work on it in its various states of tune.
So, I softened up and decided if it went back on the street, it wasn't going to be with the old "A" series 1275. It needed a transplant. Stay tuned!
