2. Getting Started

Well, it's been a year since we started, and we didn't do a whole lot of documentation on the process, but I'll try and hit the highlights. Since the Midget was in race trim, one of the first things that had to be done is to strip a lot of stuff off. It was interesting "undoing" a lot of the blood, sweat, tears and dollars from the late '90s when I prepped it for vintage racing. Out came darn near everything from the engine compartment and interior. We cut out the bulk of the rollcage, because in street trim, we want to be able to use the convertible top. We did leave part of the cage in as we plan to replace it with something that fits, and wanted something to tie back into.

Midget partially stripped.
The minilites are still in the race trailer, it's currently sitting on some old Vega wheels I used for trailering. We've got the ragtop laying back up on it, for the first time in about 10 years.

Cleaned out.
So, time to get serious. We need an engine. Hmmm, so many choices.
