Duratec Pulley Setup
By brad on Nov 3, 2009 | In Blog
Had a question a while back about how we handled the pulley setup since we were running with no AC and no power steering. It's actually pretty easy to do. The biggest trick was figuring out how to route it and keep everything turning the right way. We had to move the tensioner anyway due to clearance issues, so we moved the idler pulley down to near where the tensioner used to be. To cover the A/C compressor removal, we purchased an A/C delete pulley from Ford, which they sell for that very purpose, and installed it down near where the compressor would have gone. Finally, the tensioner moved up to where the PS pump used to be. For that we had to fabricate a bracket, which we designed to accommodate a standard length serpentine belt.
Here's what it looked like when we got finished. If you need details, just post a comment and I'll get more detailed info up for you.

Then you took the idler pulley from where?
How much was the AC delete kit and what was the part number? If you have some better close up pictures that would be great.
I am close to firing up my Duratec on a test stand and this pulley/belt situation is one of the last hurdles.
Thanks,
I am in the process of finishing a 2.3L powered Lotus 15 Replica, and have a 2.0L Duratec on the dyno.
Some tighter photos of the new belt layout would be really appreaciated. Do you have sketches for the adapters, or did you make them on the fly?
Thx,
Mark
